Highley Medical Centre has a new system whereby all patients including children will have a named GP from the 1st April 2015. All reasonable efforts to accommodate patient choice will be made.
Oversees the day-to-day running of the Practice.
Supports the work of the Practice Manager and provides secretarial support for the GPs.
The practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses and provide help with health issues such as family planning and healthy living advice. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes and carry out cervical smears, blood pressure checks, ear syringing and dressings.
The Practice employs receptionists who provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. It has been agreed the receptionists should ask patients “why they need to be seen”. Reception staff are trained to ask certain questions in order to ensure that you our patient receives the most appropriate medical care from the most appropriate health professional at the most appropriate time. By giving the receptionist a brief outline of why an appointment is required helps the doctors to prioritise home visits and phone calls. Reception staff, like all members of the team at Highley Medical Centre are bound by confidentiality rules so any information given by you is treated strictly confidentially. However, if you feel an issue is very private and do not wish to say what this is then this will be respected. The Receptionists perform other important tasks such as dealing with repeat prescription requests, patient registration and carrying out searches and practice audits.
